Gotcha Day!

One year ago today I bought my first brahman. A nearly 2-year-old bred heifer, “Dolly or Darla.” Dolly gave birth to her first calf back in March, a little heifer. After purchasing my first brahman I knew it was going to become an addiction. Since then, I have purchased a brahman bull, 2 brahman heifers, and a black angus cow-calf pair. The docility of this breed is like none other. These cows are like big lap dogs, always longing for attention and wanting to be petted and scratched.

My love for the breed came from my pawpaw, who along with his herd of commercial angus cattle had a few commercial brahman that were just beautiful to see out grazing in our pasture. Since his passing when I was young, I always wanted to have brahman because they remind me of him.

My goal for our registered brahman herd is to have around 20-30 cows to be able to breed. Along with some Black Angus’ or Herefords to have some F1 crosses.
